AI Public Lecture Series

1

Goal: Invite thought leaders to share their expertise on seminal AI issues to help the public become AI-literate to ensure they can understand and shape AI policies.
‍Format: A 90-minute in-person discussion with an AI expert, a subject-matter specialist, and a moderator, followed by audience questions.
‍Bi-Annual Lectures: Partnering with sponsors, AAL hosts both small private gatherings and public events to highlight issues that aren’t being addressed.
‍Recordings and Podcast: All sessions are recorded and made available on the AI Art Lab website. An additional podcast is produced with each guest.

Artist Training Program

Goal: To support and train artists in using AI as a creative tool, advancing the state of experimental art.
‍Focus Areas: Cinema, music, and visual arts.
‍Structure: A year-long program with five artists.
‍Remote and On-Site Training: While most training is remote, AAL hosts residencies in locations where local government support enables artists to create, display work, and engage with the public.
Output: Artworks are showcased in the Art Exhibitions.

Art Exhibitions

Goal: To educate visitors about AI’s creative potential and to inspire the public, students and artists to explore AI.
‍Content: Exhibits feature (a) AI-generated art and works by artists trained by AAL, (b) AI art by prominent international artists, and (c) interactive educational materials on AI.
‍Location: AAL collaborates with cultural institutions to host events in different cities, with an emphasis on the EU, Japan and the UAE.
‍Accessibility: The space welcomes all audiences and promotes social cohesion through intergenerational learning and experimentation.
‍Public Engagement: Publicly displaying artistic prototypes and explaining how the AI models operate generates analytical insights and audience feedback, and fosters a feedback loop for ongoing improvement.

Start-Up Incubator

Goal: To foster innovation in AI and art and demonstrate the importance of the creative arts as a driver of social and economic value.
‍Annual Open Call: Identify three AI art start-ups selected by an advisory team.
‍Support Package: Up to €100,000 in seed funding, mentorship, and technical support from the AAL advisory board and professional network.
‍Equity Stake: AAL retains an equity stake in each venture.

AI Creative Advisory Services

Goal: To offer AI art expertise, program curation, and proprietary content to governments, cultural institutions, and other organizations, thereby expanding impact and ensuring sustainability.
‍Services: Following AAL’s launch, consulting and licensing services are offered on a fee basis to support core public-interest work.

Research Center

Goal: To foster international academic collaboration in the field of Creative AI and to demonstrate the importance of innovation at the intersection of arts and technology.
‍Collaboration: Partnerships with universities and international researchers, including PhD candidates, for research projects related to AAL’s Artist Training Program.
‍Output: The Center leads research on projects in AI and art, including large models and new creative applications using proprietary datasets. Research outputs are made publicly available on the AAL website and in relevant online research databases.

PEOPLE

The AI Art Lab is led by a multidisciplinary team whose expertise bridges law, technology, art, and education. The Executive Team includes Fedra Fateh, CEO, an international corporate lawyer and arts patron; Vahid Rastgou, Managing and Artistic Director, a multimedia artist and curator; Tom Collins, Program Director, professor in AI and music at the University of Miami; Reza Farhadifar Scientific Advisor and Rika Nakazawa, Chief Innovation Officer, technologist and thought leader. Together, they provide strategic, creative, and operational leadership. Supporting them is an Advisory Board composed of distinguished professionals: Lorenzo Da Pra Galanti, international corporate attorney; Jack Silver and Richard Reitknecht, investors and arts patrons; Ken Tabachnick and Eric Wright, arts professionals with executive expertise; Marc de Bourcy, Luxembourg diplomat and cultural advisor; Soheila Golestani, film and theater director; Dieter Fuchs, political scientist and author; and Nathalie Magniez, technologist at STMicroelectronics.

Timeline and Key Milestones

In Year 1, AAL establishes its foundation by launching the AI Public Lecture Series, initiating program development for the Art Exhibition, and recruiting five artists for the inaugural Artist Training Program. In Years 2–3, activities will expand to include the full implementation of the Art Exhibition, selection of start-ups through the Incubator’s open call, and the scaling of the Artist Training Program. AAL also provides advisory services and content licensing to cultural institutions, enabling reinvestment in free educational programming. Concurrently, it will publish ongoing research outputs and strengthen international partnerships, consolidating its position as a global platform for Creative AI and cultural innovation.
